Our History
For over ten years AFW has worked closely with Itron (www.itron.com), a leading
global provider of Energy and Water solutions to Utilities, in order to develop
innovative products for the prepayment Electricity and Gas markets.
A number of highly sophisticated and advanced prepayment solutions have been developed
for Itron. One of these solutions is used by Eskom, which manages the largest one-way
prepayment solution in the world. The City of Cape Town Unicity also use another
prepayment product developed by AFW for Itron.
There are also very large installations outside of South Africa, particularly in
Africa. These sites are experiencing rapid adoption of prepayment despite infrastructure
challenges. More recently, rapid adoption of these solutions is happening in Asia
and South America
